Remediation

The remediation programme focuses on addressing learning gaps through targeted reteaching. It is typically conducted in small groups and, importantly, incorporates play-based and diverse learning activities.

Detailed Description

The goal of the remediation programme is to provide temporary, targeted support to primary school students who require additional assistance for various reasons. The programme supports these students to engage in the core learning process with greater confidence, readiness, and success in the future.

The programme significantly strengthens foundational academic skills, ensuring that challenges are identified early on and addressed timely, targeted intervention.

It is important to note that difficulties at later stages of education often stem from gaps in foundational skills that were not addressed early enough in primary school. The remediation programme plays a vital role in preventing these challenges by addressing student’s learning needs right at the start.

The Remediation Programme

  • The target group is formed based on the results of diagnostic assessments, alongside evaluations provided by the homeroom teacher and subject teachers.

  • The programme includes sessions held two or three times a week, conducted in small groups of three to four students or, when necessary, on an individual basis.

  • The programme operates across both face-to-face and online learning environments.

  • The programme is fully included in the school tuition fees, requiring no additional cost.

Fields of Study

The literacy programme focuses on the development of phonological awareness, decoding skills and reading fluency.

Phonology exercises focus on syllable segmentation, identifying initial sounds, blending sounds together and segmenting words into individual sounds.

During decoding activities, students learn to connect letters with their corresponding sounds. Instruction focuses on letter recognition, sounding out words and linking words to their meanings within a given context.

In mathematics, several groups are formed, each focusing on a specific area of learning. These areas include:

Numbers and Quantities – This area helps students confidently recognize, read and represent numbers, develop an understanding of quantities, and perform mathematical operations accurately.

Shapes and Spatial Orientation – Through these sessions, students learn to recognize geometric shapes with confidence and develop the ability to navigate and orient themselves both on a flat plane (including within their notebooks) and in physical space. This supports the development of motor skills and improves their ability to work effectively on written tasks.

Word Problems - Following focused instruction in this area, students are able to understand the information and questions presented in word problems, select an appropriate problem-solving strategy and arrive at a solution.
